Day 1: A Tribute to Michigan
As previously stated, Mondays will usually be a specific genre, but today's a bit different.
It appears that Michigan became our 26th state on this day in 1837. The state has a great history of music from Motown to early punk to modern-day hip-hop. I've tried to include a nice cross-section of styles in the list (with a lot of R&B and Soul, because that's what made Detroit famous). And, instead of using songs about Michigan/Detroit, or music produced there, I went with artists hailing from The Great Lakes State. I decided to take it chronologically, so if it doesn't flow perfectly, be patient. And enjoy!
Also, the imeem player is probably the best way for me to post these play-lists. So if you don't have an account, I'd encourage you to create one! And, as a bonus, most offices don't have imeem blocked off, so you should be able to enjoy this at work!
(Note: Not every day is going to have such a long list. Some days will be shorter depending on what the lists' influence is.)
